Our Goal is to offer a wide array of dynamic, interactive, immersive, and cultural educational programs and activities that focus on the Italian language and the art, the culture, and the history of Italy.   We aim to serve diverse student populations and to make our courses accessible to all who have a desire and an interest to learn more about the richness and the beauty of the Italian language and Italy, as well as those who want to travel abroad, and who want to be in touch with their Italian origins and to feel more Italian.  In time, we hope to offer many more programs in Italian, including a summer camp for children, a daycare, and much much more.

In this process, we hope to regain a lost culture in the Pittsburgh area and to offer something unique and wonderful to the community.

Additional Goals

We realize the importance of studying, learning, and speaking a second language or a third language in the modern world of today. Not only does it increase brain development in young children, but it is also an excellent skill to have in business, art, music, opera, science, and many other fields or while traveling abroad.

Unfortunately, Italian has been a much desired language of study in Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas, and yet, is lacking in schools and can only be found in rare occasions or at different Universities in the area. There are not much options for Parents who would like their children to learn Italian.

Through the years, many Italian Americans have lost their language, while strongly trying to hold onto their culture and heritage and many Children of Italians as well are fighting to keep their language and culture, while desiring to be American as well. We would like to bring back the Italian language (culture, history, art, etc) to the lost and future generations of Italians and Italian Americans here in Pittsburgh.

Along with the desire to spread the Italian Language and Culture, we also realize that it is necessary for those who are from Italy or other countries to adapt to the Pittsburgh language, lifestyle, and American way of life. We want to give them a helping hand, by offering to them ESL Language Courses of all levels and types.

The mission of La Scuola d'Italia Galileo Galilei, Inc., a non-profit organization, is to create a K-12 International Italian Language School in Pittsburgh that is recognized, both by the Italian and International Governments as well as the United States and the State of Pennsylvania, that will promote and preserve the study and spread of Italian art, culture, history, and language through academic instruction, research, and extracurricular opportunities for personal enrichment and exploration in the Pittsburgh area.
