Five vignettes produced by WQED-TV about area Italian Americans are available online in advance of the PBS series, “The Italian Americans,” which will be seen Feb. 17 and 24.

The vignettes can be viewed at wqed.org/italianamericans. They are: “The Italian Nationality Room,” “The Spignola Saturnia Italo-American Society,” “The Enrico Biscotti Company,” “The Shoemakers” and “La Scuola d'Italia Galileo Galilei.”

They join 10 other episodes that look at such ethnic topics as Bloomfield, the Italian Christmas tradition and architect Lou Astorino.

“The Italian Americans” is a four-hour, two-part presentation that will be broadcast at 9 p.m. Feb. 17 and 24, narrated by actor Stanley Tucci.
