HERE IS WHY:

La Scuola d'Italia Galileo Galilei, Inc is the first 501(c)3 non-profit Italian School and Organization with approval in Western Pa and the entire Commonwealth of Pa, that helps to maintain and to spread Italian Culture, History, Art, and Languages in and around the Pittsburgh area and throughout the United States.  La Scuola is endorsed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Italian Consulate of Philadelphia.

La Scuola d'Italia GG was founded by three professionals, with exceptionally strong ties to Italy and to the Italian and Italian-American communities in Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas.  We are Instructors, Educators, Scientists, and Researchers who are deeply passionate about the Italian Culture and Language; and we are Italian and Italian American Citizens, who want to create a new opportunity for the diverse Communities and for the surrounding areas, as well as for the fast-growing Italian and Italian American Community, allowing Italian to finally make its mark in the Pittsburgh area!

We also realize the importance of studying, learning, and speaking a second language or a third language in the modern world of today.  Not only does it increase brain development in young children, but it is also an excellent skill to have in business, art, music, opera, science, and many other fields or while traveling abroad.  Unfortunately, Italian has been a much-desired language of study in and around the Pittsburgh area, and yet, is lacking in schools and can only be found in rare occasions or at different Universities in the area.  There are not many options for Parents who would like their children to learn Italian.

Through the years, many Italian Americans all across the United States have lost their language, while strongly trying to hold onto their culture and heritage and many Children of Italians as well are fighting to keep their language and culture, while desiring to be American as well.   We would like to bring back the Italian language (culture, history, art, etc) to the lost and future generations of Italians and Italian Americans here in the Pittsburgh area.

Our goal is to create the first bi-lingual Italian Elementary School and Middle School in Pittsburgh. This is an opportunity, that can't be missed, to give yourself, your sons and daughters, your nieces and nephews, your grandchildren, at last the opportunity to re-invigorate your Italian roots, and to pass on the beauty of the Italian culture to the next generation, through study and participation at cultural events and maintaining our history all in one location.

We offer many different educational programs, cultural and history courses, as well as language courses and a study abroad program that will allow us to regain a lost culture in the Pittsburgh area.  We are open to all (different types of students, Italians, Italian Americans, and non-Italians and non-Italian Americans) who are ready, willing, and have an interest and a desire to know and learn more about the Italian Language and Culture; who desire to travel through Italy, and for those who want to be and feel more Italian.

Along with the desire to spread the Italian Language and Culture, we also realize that it is necessary for those who are from Italy or other countries to adapt to the Pittsburgh language, lifestyle, and American way of life.  We want to give them a helping hand, by offering to them ESL Language Courses of all levels and types.
